We are looking for an experienced and driven Service Manager to lead our Northwich Service Department. This is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring the department operates efficiently, profitably, and with outstanding customer satisfaction.
You’ll oversee all aspects of the Service function – from workshop performance to customer relationships – ensuring every customer interaction enhances the reputation of our dealership and brand.
Other duties may be required of the post holder in addition to those listed above and below, to ensure that the requirements of the business are met at all times.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Leadership
- Manage and motivate the Service Department team to achieve performance and profit targets.
- Monitor workshop capacity, labour efficiency, and departmental KPIs.
- Control costs and resources to optimise profitability and efficiency.
- Maintain accurate performance reporting and ensure compliance with all company and manufacturer processes.
Customer Experience
- Promote a culture of exceptional customer service and open communication.
- Build strong relationships with customers through regular SLA reviews.
- Work collaboratively with internal teams to deliver a seamless aftersales experience.
People & Development
- Lead, coach, and support Service Receptionists, Workshop staff, and Technicians.
- Identify training needs and implement development plans.
- Support apprenticeships and encourage continuous improvement across the department.
Business Growth & Financial Control
- Take full ownership of the Service P&L and drive departmental growth.
- Maximise sales of labour, parts, accessories, and value-added products.
- Work with central invoicing and accounting teams to ensure prompt and accurate billing.
- Manage debt control and cost efficiency to protect profit margins.
Compliance, Health & Safety, and Policies
- Ensure all Health & Safety, Environmental, and Company Compliance standards are rigorously maintained across the Service Department.
- Promote a culture of safety awareness, ensuring all staff work in line with statutory regulations, company procedures and manufacturer guidelines.
- Maintain accurate records and reporting for audits, inspections, and risk assessments.
- Uphold all North West Trucks company policies and procedures.
- Ensure that all workshop equipment, tools, and premises are maintained in a safe, compliant, and efficient condition.
- Collaborate with the Compliance Manager and Health & Safety Executive to proactively address risks and continuously improve standards.
Ideally, we are looking for:
- We’re looking for an energetic leader who thrives in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
- Proven experience as a Service Manager, or similar leadership role within the motor trade (HGV experience preferred).
- Strong technical knowledge and commercial awareness.
- Excellent people management, communication, and organisational skills.
- Confidence managing budgets, KPIs, and financial performance.
- Up-to-date knowledge of HGV technology, industry standards, and legislation.
- IMI or equivalent professional qualification (desirable).
