Last Thursday night, the lights of the Birmingham Hilton Metropole shone bright with pride and accomplishment as DAF Apprentices from across the UK came together for the largest graduation ceremony in the programme’s 30-year history.

For Harvey James, it was a night to remember. After a year of hard work, hands-on learning, and determination, Harvey earned an incredible 1st place in the Year Three Apprentice of the Year competition! Craig Heathershaw, Dealer Principal commented: "It’s hard to put into words how proud I am of what he’s achieved. Harvey’s attitude, determination, and willingness to learn have stood out from day one. He’s shown exactly what can be accomplished when you combine talent with hard work and the right mindset. Moments like this remind me why investing in young people matters so much. They are the future of our industry – and seeing Harvey recognised on a national stage is a huge credit to him, and to the team who’ve supported his journey. A massive well done, Harvey – this is just the start of what I know will be an incredible career."

Also flying the North West Trucks flag was Eric Burrows who competed in the in the Year 3 Apprentice of the Year competition, along with Harvey adding a bit of healthy competition and friendly rivalry.

As speeches filled the room and certificates were awarded, the North West Trucks team stood shoulder to shoulder with apprentices from across the country, celebrating 30 years of the DAF Apprenticeship Programme. It was more than a ceremony; it was a celebration of growth, potential, and the shared journey of hundreds of young technicians and parts specialists stepping into their futures.

A big congratulations to all the North West Trucks apprentices who graduated and are now fully qualified technicians — a fantastic milestone and testament to your dedication and hard work: Harvey James, Owen Wilson, Eric Burrows and Joshua Shallcross 

The apprentices left the event with their heads held high, their achievements recognised, and their eyes firmly on what’s next. The road ahead is bright — and with talents like all our newly qualified technicians leading the way, the North West Trucks legacy is in great hands!
